Steve Dighton has been the Senior Pastor at Lenexa Baptist Church since 1990. Prior to coming to Lenexa, he was the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Piedmont, Oklahoma. Pastor Steve received his education at Dallas Baptist University and holds two degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Steve's wife, Mary Dighton, DDS, is in private practice in Lenexa. The Dightons have two sons, Chase, who is a dentist in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Derek, who lives in Shawnee, Kansas. They also have three grandchildren, Cooper, Allison and Johnathan.

Having been raised in a Christian home, it is not surprising that Pastor Steve gave his heart to Jesus when he was nine at a church camp in Southern Oklahoma. When he was 25 years old, he rededicated his life to Christ, and that decision was a pivotal point in his walk with the Lord.

Before his call to the ministry, Pastor Steve enjoyed a career in the men's clothing business. But, while serving as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher at his home church, First Baptist of Ada, Oklahoma, he began to feel God's call to full time service. The Dighton family then moved to Fort Worth, Texas, so that Steve could follow God's leading and attend seminary. Since that time, God has confirmed that calling in many ways.

Pastor Steve is an example of "servant leadership" to the members of Lenexa Baptist Church as I Kings 12:7 says:

It is Pastor Steve's prayer that through the teaching and preaching of the inerrant Word of God, we will continue to develop spiritual maturity as a church body. Pastor Steve's God-given vision for Lenexa Baptist Church is that we would become the "flagship conservative evangelical church" in Johnson County, taking the gospel to the surrounding community (our "Jerusalem"), while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the world through our mission endeavors.
