Wesley Vance joined Lenexa Baptist in January 2008 and serves as the Assimilation Pastor. Prior to serving at Lenexa Baptist, Wesley also owned W.C. Vance Agency, an regional insurance agency specializing in employee benefit packages.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Religion from Baylor University and a Master’s of Arts with a Christian Education emphasis from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Wesley and his wife, Amy, have been married since 2001 and have one daughter, Addison.
After a family devotion one night at the age of nine, Wesley knelt beside his bed and in faith asked Jesus to forgive his sins and be Lord over his life. In the years since this simple prayer, the ramification of Jesus’ grace and Lordship over his life has led to a deep and penetrating transformation in all areas of his life.
Wesley, at 17, began to sense a call of ministry upon his life. For the next several years the exploration and confirmation of this call awarded him the opportunity to serve the local church as a Deacon, Sunday School leader, and mentor to students. In the summer of 2005, God clearly directed Wesley to leave his successful business in order to pursue full-time ministry. Understanding the significance of this privilege of service to His Lord, Wesley seeks to embody Acts 20:24, which says:
“But I count my life as no value to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of God’s grace.”
It is Wesley’s goal to serve the Lord in a manner in which He is well pleased. Wesley passionately approaches the tasks of life with diligence and a commitment to excellence. It is his personal belief that he has been the recipient of many blessings and has, placed upon him, a grandiose responsibility. Wesley is keenly aware of the Holy Scripture declaration:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abide in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
